The second letter indicates year of manufacture. I have been putting together a chart of the dates and code. By that chart, your gun was manufactured in 1988 or 1989.

I just went to the Taurus website and looked up the production year, and after entering the serial number, the production year is given as 2011. My SN is SDN512XX, and I probably won't ever know when it was manufactured. It does function perfectly though. After cleaning it thoroughly, it fired both fmj and jhp rounds without any trouble.

Serial 0332xx, lower number than the first one, only 26 digits apart. The barrel in the new one is stamped "l" on the side, exactly as the replacement for the first one is, so I'm guessing at some point Taurus went and replaced the barrel before shipping it out, as both pistols are brand new from the factory.
